The latest reports confirmed Apple's plans to launch a new version of HomePod devices at WWDC 2025, and this version will feature a screen.
Apple first introduced the HomePod smart speaker at an event in 2017, and then the second generation of HomePod devices was launched in January of last year.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that the next generation of HomePod devices would be available in the first half of 2024 with a 7-inch screen, but Apple decided to postpone the launch of the device to the first quarter of 2025, and today new details reveal that the device will be available at an event held at WWDC 2025.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also noted that the new HomePod smart speaker will be officially launched at an event in the third quarter of 2025, so the device is expected to be available between July and September.
The new details have revealed that Apple has decided to postpone the production of this version to complete the development of the screen software. Apple will also support the device with the A18 chip, and it will integrate with smart devices in the home more efficiently.
Kuo's report revealed Apple's plans to ship 500,000 units of the HomePod with a screen, and if Apple's sales expectations are met, the company's shipments are expected to reach one million units.
